Ray Yamaguchi

Ray Yamaguchi（レイ・ヤマグチ）は、日英バイリンガルのフォトグラファー／ビデオグラファー、デザイナー、ディレクター、そして翻訳家。

アメリカで育ち、大学卒業後に日本へ。メーカーでマーケティングやブランディング、コンテンツ制作などに携わった後、Vantanデザイン研究所でアートディレクションやデザインを学び、独立。

現在は、音楽、ファッション、スポーツ、企業、ライフスタイルなど幅広いジャンルで、写真・映像を中心としたコンテンツ制作を手がける。撮影から企画、ディレクション、デザイン、編集まで、プロジェクトに合わせて幅広く携わっている。

日英両方の文化と言語を背景に持つことを活かし、日本から海外へ、海外から日本へ向けたコンテンツ制作やコミュニケーションにも対応。言葉を翻訳するだけではなく、文化や価値観の違いを越えて、人と人との間にあるものを理解し、それを伝わるかたちへと変えていくことを大切にしている。

国やジャンル、肩書きにとらわれず、その場にいる人々と自然に関わりながら、そこにしかない瞬間やストーリーを見つける。そして、その「本質」に光を当て、見る人の心を動かすコンテンツへとつなげていく。

現在は自身のクリエイティブプロダクション 合同会社LUXNT Media （ルーセントメディア）の代表として、写真、映像、デザイン、ディレクション、コンテンツ制作など、さまざまな領域を横断して活動している。

Ray Yamaguchi is a bilingual Japanese-American photographer, videographer, designer, director, and translator.

Raised in the United States, he moved to Japan after graduating from university. He began his career working in marketing, branding, and content production for a manufacturing company, before studying art direction and design at Vantan Design Institute and becoming an independent creative.

Today, he works across a wide range of fields including music, fashion, sports, corporate, and lifestyle, creating photo and video content. From shooting and production to planning, direction, design, and editing, he works across the creative process according to the needs of each project.

With a background in both Japanese and American cultures and languages, he also works on content and communication between Japan and international markets. His approach goes beyond simply translating words — he seeks to understand the people, perspectives, and values behind them, and translate those connections into something that can be clearly communicated.

Regardless of country, genre, or role, he works closely and naturally with the people around him to discover the moments and stories that can only exist in that particular place and time. By bringing light to their essence, he aims to turn those discoveries into content that resonates with its audience.

Based at his own creative production company, LUXNT Media LLC (pronounced ‘lucent’), he continues to work across photography, film, design, direction, and content production, connecting different creative disciplines to bring ideas and stories to life.
